Now back to the present, we have another marshal (pact-marshal) that basically did nothing worthy during the fights against zhaitan. (That moment left me with a big WTF and I was like dude I did all the works so u can’t just jump in and become a god!) She however, managed to show up at the last moment after Abaddon’s defeat and claim all the glory for herself by attaining god hood. Halfway through the campaign our beloved spear-marshal got blinded and thus sat out for the rest of the war. It all started years ago when we accompanied a certain spear-marshal (I will not name names here) to war against Abaddon and his minions. Why? Probably because they couldn’t find a way to include these in the current narrow definition of Living Story.Įven the April feature pack had ‘content’ that probably could and should have been included in the form of an expansion proper, like the new grandmaster traits – not just thrown into some in between Living Story period. Just look at the current feature pack for example – there’s a misplaced runaway effect of new content in the form of the new light aura combo, and several new runes and sigils being crammed into the game all of a sudden. So how about an expansion that expands play areas and content proper? You said yourself that expansions tend to replace – this is true. This is because of gear tiers and the runaway powercreep effect of people wanting better, stronger, more powerful. What makes less people actually fully get into and enjoy older content in MMOs with constant expansions is the fact that they’re quite simply *no longer really relevant* outside of the story bits. ReplyĪrenanet has already and is already constantly proving that they can keep people in the currently existing content.īy no means does an expansion mean that people magically stop playing old content. Unless you have never played another MMO, and as such don’t know any better, your lying to yourself if you say otherwise. However, this attitude that the Living World pushes out an expansion’s quantity of content is very much incorrect. All that in the most modest of expansions I have seen.ĭon’t get me wrong, I enjoy GW2, and I play it because I enjoy it. Compaired to the 5-10 new zones minimum, 10-20 hours of repeatable storyline, multiple new dungeons, and 50ish new skins obtainable in game rather than in a gem store. In two years we have recieved 2 new zones, 1 never fully realized, some QoL changes, FotM(the only thing resembling a dungeon added since launch), and temporary content ‘Galore’, alongside 2 hours of replayable story missions. In regards to the living story vs expansion content, I have to say expansion wins hands down. Name a successful MMO other than WoW that did not have at least one expansion announced before the 2 year mark we have so recently passed. Hating on one specific game does not make your argument more valid, it just shows a lack of critical thought on your part. Or, you know, every other MMO on the market. rush or kick, etc etc) the 100% players will gradualy erode and eventualy the game dies while a larger comunity of casual players is more fluid, sure they leave but new people join too, hopefuly in equal ish numbers and the game doesnt die. GW2 is better off with a lot of players who play some of the time than with some players who play gw2 all the time, the reason is simple – a community of 100% players makes the new player experiance negtive (harsh leraning curve e.g. “WOW” players are great as cash cows, only problem is they dont stay arround forever, there are more ex-wow players than people who currently play – the future of any mmo is as much future players as it is current players.

#Gw2 xunlai electrum ingot update

The trend with this update seems to be to cement in the experiance for new players, this is a good plan for the long term, its about keeping gw2 alive for a long time not keeping people who want WOW like epxansions happy in the short term. GW is not trying to be like WoW with massive expansions every year or so, lots of people have tried that, most have failed hard. GW1 was similar in that ANet didnt expect you to play GW 100% of the time, you dont pay a subscription (most people who dont buy gems have probably paid about one euro per month). Any content will involve doing something, the idea is that the main game also has stuff for you to do however GW isnt ment to be a “total imersion” game.
